Tour Overview

Board your luxurious tour vehicle at the 10:00 am pick-up and get ready for the trip.

Take in the landscape as you pass through the Lake District; the first lake, Lake Traunsee, is situated on the way to Salzburg and is around 600 feet deep. To get to the first lake in the Salzkammergut Lake District from Vienna, it takes around 2 1/2 hours. Admire the splendor of the view across the Lake from Unterach, a small town where the famous painter Gustav Klimt created many of his most well-known works.

After that, a visit to the Sound of Music Wedding Church in Mondsee is on the agenda. If you’d like, you can stop for a quick cup of coffee and then travel on to Salzburg.

Start your Salzburg city tour with the Hellbrunn palace (17th-century prinz archbishop castle), where you will find the Sound of Music gazebo.

The next stop is the Leopoldskorn palace in Salzburg’s south, which was used for the filming of the world-famous film The Sound of Music in 1964. The palace is surrounded by an artificial lake and with the fortress Hohen Salzburg as it’s backdrop, wich is a perfect shot.

Continue with a tour through the old town of Salzburg, passing Mozart’s residence, Mozart’s birthplace, the Salzburg Cathedral, the festival houses, St. Peter’s Church, Franciscan Church. The top highlight in the old town is a stop at Salzburg’s best viewpoint. Your private guide will point out all the must-visit spots from there.

After eight hours of exploring the City of Salzburg your tour will end either at your Salzburg City hotel or at the train station (the train back to Vienna is about €40 per person).
