Tour Overview
Meet your professional local guide and driver at your Salzburg hotel and hop on board of your luxury minivan. Afterward, your journey will take you on beautiful backroads to the Obersalzberg Region. Visit the Berghof ruins, Hotel zum Tuerken, and Obersalzberg to learn more about the history of the region. Hitler’s formerly mountain retreat at the Obersalzberg was the Berghof, which is situated at a height of 3000 feet. Nazis utilized
the Hotel zum Tuerken, which is located not far from Hitler’s Berghof. The Hotel zum Tuerken is now privately owned. Enjoy a personalized guided tour of the Eagle’s Nest. From the Eagle’s Nest bus stop, a specially prepared mountain bus will take you up the picturesque 4-mile road with a 27% gradient to a rock plateau. From there, a 407-feet tunnel
leads to the original World War II brass elevator, which carries you another 407 feet through the mountain-range of the ‘Kehlstein’ to the Eagle’s Nest itself. You will have some free time after touring the Eagle’s Nest to enjoy the
landscape or have a beverage.
We continue our descent from Obersalzberg to the beautiful Bavarian mountain town of Berchtesgaden and on to Lake Königssee. Lake Königssee is known for its bright green water and striking mountain scenery. After a short photo stop,
you will be driven back to Berchtesgaden. You will have 1 1/2 hours time to explore Berchtesgaden on your own and eat lunch in one of the traditional Bavarian restaurants (lunch is not included in the price). The Berchtesgaden salt mine, which has been in operation since 1517, is the next highlight. Visitors dressed as miners enjoy rides on the train, raft, and slides! After eight hours of exploring the Eagle’s Nest, Berchtesgaden, Kings Lake, and the Salt Mines all in one day, your private tour will conclude with drop-off at your Salzburg City hotel.
