Private Tour
Tour Overview
Be transported back in time on this daylong tour designed for fans of The Sound of Music. Begin the day at 10 am when your private guide picks you up from your Salzburg hotel.
Start with a Salzburg city tour, including stops at Leopoldskron Palace and Hellbrunn Palace. A Sound of Music city highlight is a visit to the Mirabell Gardens.
Admire the view over the lake with the castle Leopoldskron and fortress in the background. Leopoldskron was used as the von Trapp family home in Sound of Music. Also, the boat scene with Maria and the kids was filmed here.
The next stop is Hellbrunn Palace, in the park of the Palace Hellbrunn is today the Sound of Music Gazebo – 16 going 17.
Afterward, your journey will take you on a scenic route to the Obersalzberg Region. Dive deeper into the area’s history with a visit to the Obersalzberg and the Berghof ruins. The Berghof, located at 3000 ft elevation, was Hitler’s former mountain residence at the Obersalzberg.
From the Obersalzberg you will access the Eagle’s Nest with special busses and elevator. You will have 2 hours at the Eagle’s Nest. Take a stroll to the very close summit Kehlstein to overlook the picturesque Bavarian and Austrian Alps.
From November 1st, 2021 until about May 10th, 2022 (depends on the snow conditions of the year), the Eagle’s Nest direct access road is closed, alternatively, we offer to visit the Rossfeld summit instead. From this vantage point, soak in panoramic views of the stunning Austrian and Bavarian Alps and the nearby Eagle’s Nest. Feel free to choose this option also when Eagle’s Nest is opened if you prefer a much less crowded, more local site than the Eagle’s Nest.
Returning at the Obersalzberg your journey continues to the castle of Fuschl located in the beautiful Salzburg Lake District. Capture a picture of the castle of Fuschl with the emerald-green Lake Fuschlsee as its backdrop, before heading on to St. Gilgen with Lake Wolfgang, the next photo stop.
The next highlight is Wolfgang Lake and the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great viewpoint before heading on to Mondsee with the Sound of Music wedding church.
After eight hours of exploring the city of Salzburg and the Eagle´s Nest, your private tour will conclude with drop-off at your Salzburg city hotel.
