After a comprehensive 2-hour minivan tour of the old city, including the Mirabell Gardens and Salzburg’s best view point, the M32 view terrace, you will continue to the Leopoldskron Palace used as the von Trapp family house in Sound of Music. Capture some pictures of the Palace with the fortress of Salzburg in the background.
Next highlight is Hellbrunn Palace which is an old Archbishop palace from the 17th century. It was used as a place for celebration, for pleasure and rehabilitation by the prince archbishops. It was very modern to build pleasure palaces in the early 17th century.
After this tour of the city you will be ready to explore the sights of the Eagles Nest and the Obersalzberg area. Lean back and enjoy the drive on the scenic route to Berchtesgaden. The alpine village Berchtesgaden will offer you great opportunities to get some Bavarian specialty for lunch (own expense).
Next is the drive to the Obersalzberg, the site of Hitler’s Berghof, his former mountain residence. Explore the road from the ‚Obersalzberg to the Eagle's Nest bus terminal with special busses from where you will enter a 407 ft (124 m) long tunnel to reach the elevator to the Eagle’s Nest. Weather permitting, enjoy the very scenic view to the Bavarian Alps, the Austrian Alps, the King’s lake (Koenigssee) and the view to Salzburg.
From Nov to about May 10th (depends on the snow conditions of the year), the Eagle's Nest direct access road is closed, alternatively we offer to visit the Rossfeld summit instead.
After eight hours exploring the city of Salzburg and the Eagle´s Nest, your private tour will conclude with drop-off at your Salzburg city hotel.
