 Tour Overview

This 8 hour Full Day Tour starts with a tour of the city of Salzburg including the Palaces Leopoldskron (Von Trapp Family House) and Hellbrunn (Sound of Music Gazebo). From Hellbrunn Palace the journey continues straight to the Bavarian Mountains where the Opening Scene - The Hills are Alive and the Hiking Scene was filmed. Since the original hill is private property today we'll get you very close to it. After twilling in the meadow we'll continue to one of the best view points at the Bavarian Mountains, the Rossfeld at an elevation of 5.500 ft where Captian von Trapp was hiking with the family at the end of the movie Sound of Music.

After the visit at the Bavarian Mountains the drive continues to the picturesque alpine village Werfen. On the traces of The Sound of Music Trail it will lead us to the picnic meadow where Maria and the children started singing "Do-Re-Mi".

Now it will be around noon, so time for having lunch either at the Gault Millau Restaurant "Obauer" with many international awards or in some other typical austrian inn. The musical "The Sound of Music" was filmed in Salzburg, the Bavarian Mountains, in Werfen and in the "Salzkammergut" lake region, this is the last original film location of Sound of Music on our private sightseeing tour schedule.

The next highlight is Lake Wolfgang and the village St. Gilgen, the scenery of the area was shown at the beginning of the Sound of Music Film and also Panorama Shots were made here. Enjoy a view from the "Mozart View Point" to Lake Wolfgang and the "Schafberg" Mountain. Maria and the children were using the rack-railway to the "Schafberg" when going from the city to the picnic site. Capture a picture of the lake from that great view point before you will continue to your last stop.

Relax and enjoy the lovely countryside on the drive from St. Gilgen to the lake "Mondsee" further on to the town of Mondsee with the Sound of Music Wedding Church, from where we make our way back to Salzburg.
