Untersberg Summit - Full day Tour
Cable Car Ride to the Untersberg (1805 m),
Castle of Hellbrunn, the Fortress Hohensalzburg & Mozart's Birth Place
This tour combines natural beauty with some of the most famous historical sights of Salzburg. We start this tour with the Untersberg. By cable car we get to the summit "Geiereck". From this outlook point high above the Salzach River Valley you get a view to the Bavarian Mountains (with Eagle's Nest), the city of Salzburg, the "Dachstein - a glacier" and the Salzburg lake district. The "Untersberg" is definitely a location of the locals, it is an off-the-beaten-path setting. You can reach the neighbour summit in just 30 minutes walk. To this summit there is a winter path which gets groomed with snow cats. Or just enjoy the view and strenghten yourself at the mountain inn Hochalm - 5 minutes from the cable car station. After beeing at the summit in crystal clear alpine air we will be ready for our our descend ride with the cable car.
Next highlight is Hellbrunn, a summer residence of the archbishops of Salzburg from the 17th century. Photostop at the castle of Hellbrunn, with the Sound of Music Gazebo (16 going on 17).
Leaving Hellbrunn we return to the town center of Salzburg for visiting the fortress Hohensalzburg from the 11th century. Finally we will visit Mozart's Birth Place in the town center where this tour ends.
